--White orthorhombic crystal. Nonvolatile, nonhygroscopic, odorless. High stability at normal temperature and can maintain original quality for several years. Freely soluble in water and liquid ammonia, strongly acidic in water solution.
--Slightly soluble in methanol, insoluble in ethanol and ether. Characteristics of double functional group of amidogen and sulphonic radical, may go on chemical reaction with many matters.
--Melting point is 205oC, decomposing temperature is 209oC.
Application
Mainly used as cleaning agent of descaling, clearing away oxidize surface, slightly corrosive to metal. It can be used in water treatment sterilization, bleach fiber, wood and paper; Acidification process, removing nitrite in tobacco, sludge treatment in oil mines; Manufacturing of Dyes, Pigments; Fire retardant; Curing agent in plastic industry; Chlorine Stabilization; Electroplating and Electro-refining; Raw material for pesticide intermediate, ramification of sulfamic acid etc..
White rhombic crystal system flake crystal, colorless, tasteless, odorless, non-volatile, non-hygroscopic, flammable, low toxicity. The property is very stable, stored at room temperature for many years without change. The relative density is 2.126, the specific gravity is 2.126, the melting point is 205ºC, the decomposition begins at 209ºC, and the decomposition at 260ºC releases SO2, SO3, N2, water and other trace products. Refractive index α type 1.553, β type 1.563, γ type 1.568, dissociation constant 1.10×10-2, refraction coefficient (25±3ºC) 1.553 ~ 1.568, heat of formation is 685.9kJ/mol. Soluble in water and liquid ammonia, the pH value of 1 aqueous solution is 1.18, the solubility in water at 0ºC is 14.68g/100g water, and at 80ºC is 47.08g/100g water. Slightly soluble in methanol, insoluble in ethanol and ether, insoluble in carbon disulfide and liquid sulfur dioxide. Sulfamic acid aqueous solution has the same strong acidity as sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid. All common salts (except calcium, barium, and lead salts) are insoluble in water. It is soluble in formamide and insoluble in other organic solvents.
